You shoulda seen their eyes in '08
The first time they plugged into a delay
Signals a new record to write a kinda sci-fi
About a cosmic wanderer playing tour guide
Who took a joyride on the moon
Make an escape from a dying pale blue dot
But that's about as far as the fable got
There were much more pressing poems to put off
But they get all self assured
Any tension unattended'll resolve
Without some sort of witness
Without an audience there can't be a launch
Enlisting satellites to spread fracture songs
They sound like
A supernova strumming guitar
Apartments were vacuums for all of their art
That's why the space rock kid
Played for only stars
Trying to stay in school, work a job
To learn how to become an earthling
Feels rather alien
To be a square when this rock rolls in three dimensions
Gonna need some kind of volume
They'll form a high velocity band
Enough inertia to pay the friction no mind cause
It feels like
A supernova's lodged in their throat
Apartments were stages too in their soul
That's why the space rock kid
Played for all the stars
Guitar solo
You shoulda seen their shows
(Before we had to stay in)
You shoulda heard that tone
Since the words never made sense
The space rock kid
Will you ever grow up
And if you wont, could you lend a little hope
Space rock kid
You're the enby of the stars
